What Can We Learn from Our Community-Based Research Journey?

Embarking on a Community-Based Research (CBR) project with my groupmates was an eye-opening experience, one that allowed us to connect with our community, explore real-world issues, and collaborate closely as a team. This photoblog is a collection of moments we captured during our journey, along with reflections on the process. Here’s a peek into our CBR adventure.

A group of students gathered around a table, brainstorming and discussing the project.

The journey began with our first team meeting. We sat down with notebooks, pens, and laptops, excited but a bit anxious. Our task was to define the focus of our research and identify the key community issues we wanted to address. The energy in the room was contagious, and we began bouncing ideas off each other, trying to find the perfect project that would make a difference.

After deciding on our topic, it was time to prepare the community survey. We spent several hours crafting questions that were relevant, easy to understand, and would help us gather meaningful data. We worked together to ensure that the survey was clear and effective, making sure it aligned with the purpose of our research. This was an important step, and we took great care in drafting questions that would give us insights into the community’s needs.

BRO WHAT ARE YOU DOING? HAHAHA

Survey day arrived, and we were ready to take action. Armed with printed copies of our survey, we set out to distribute them in the community. It was exciting to meet new people, engage in conversations, and learn about their perspectives. We spoke to local residents, shopkeepers, and community leaders, gathering as much information as we could. This was a crucial moment in our CBR process, and seeing people actively participate made it all worth it.

Analyzing the gathered data allows us to draw conclusions and inform the next steps in our project

Once we had gathered enough responses, it was time to analyze the results. This part of the process was
a bit overwhelming, but it also showed the depth of our research. We spent hours together, organizing the data, looking for patterns, and drawing conclusions. This was when we realized how much we had learned about data analysis and the importance of being thorough in our research.

With our data in hand, we organized a meeting to share our findings with the community. We felt a sense of accomplishment and pride as we presented our research and discussed how our findings could be used to address the issues we identified. The feedback from the community was incredibly positive, and we felt like our project had truly made an impact. This was the moment when our hard work paid off.

After the presentation, we took a moment to reflect on our journey. We sat in a circle, sharing our personal experiences, what we learned, and the challenges we faced. Some of us had never done community-based research before, while others had more experience, but we all agreed that the journey was a rewarding one. It felt great to know that we were able to contribute to something meaningful.

A group selfie with big smiles, all of us celebrating after completing the project.

We wrapped up the day with a small celebration, taking a group selfie to mark the end of our CBR project. The experience brought us closer as a team, and we were proud of what we accomplished together. We reflected on how much we had learned not just about research, but about the importance of community engagement and how our work could spark positive change.

Before heading home, we took a moment to express our gratitude to the community members who supported us. Their participation, feedback, and willingness to share their experiences made our project a success. It was an emotional moment, as we knew that our research had touched lives and potentially brought attention to issues that mattered. It was a reminder of the impact we can have when we work together with the community.

Our Community-Based Research project was a journey of discovery, growth, and collaboration. It wasn’t just about gathering data and analyzing it—it was about connecting with people, learning from their experiences, and making a tangible impact on their lives. This photoblog captures the essence of our journey, and looking back, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a team.
